Dental Implants: Next Best Thing to Your Natural Teeth

To bring you the very best smile you can have, Mission Bend Dentistry offers a full range of restorative dental services for you. If you have damaged, decayed or missing teeth, dental implants may be the right solution for you. They offer the next best thing to your natural teeth to restore your smile.

Why Dental Implants?

A cracked or missing tooth can be a source of embarrassment. The lack of a complete set of teeth may prevent you from smiling, impact your professional and social life, and threaten your dental health. Gaps in your smile leave adjacent teeth unsupported, which can cause them to weaken, grow in crooked, or be subject to decay as food particles gain a foothold.

With dental implants, missing or damaged teeth are replaced with titanium posts that are fused into the jaw bone to provide a firm anchor for a crown that matches your natural teeth to be placed. These implants are permanent, and need no special care or cleaning beyond your normal oral hygiene.

When several adjacent teeth need to be replaced, a dental implant can be used to fill each gap between the neighboring natural teeth. This enables your smile to be restored without the need for neighboring teeth to help bridge the gap. These dental implants offer a stable and secure foundation that will allow you to eat, speak and smile naturally and with confidence.

How It’s Done

Your Mission Bend orthodontist will take impressions of your natural smile and bone tissue to help shape and design a natural-looking and fitted replacement crown for your implant. Your implants are inserted via a minor surgical procedure. A small incision is made in the gum to allow the titanium post to be inserted into to bone.

At this stage, a process of osseointegration begins. This is where your new implant fuses into the jaw bone, creating a solid, permanent anchor that will support your dental crown. This process will take several weeks, during which time you will be fitted with a temporary crown to preserve your smile. Your Mission Bend dentist will schedule follow-up visits to ensure the implant is fusing properly.

Once the fusing process has completed, your dental implant is ready to be completed. The crown will be made to perfectly match your natural tooth, and then placed onto the implant, creating a permanent tooth that will blend perfectly with your natural teeth.

No restrictions on diet, no need to remove them at night, before or after meals. No special cleaning supplies. Treat your dental implants just like your natural teeth, and smile, smile, smile!
